Rod Saboury's 1963 Corvette Pro-Street Coupe
The First
Z06 Engine

First Trade Registry is very pleased to once again offer this 1963 Split-Window Corvette built by Rod Saboury. Rod is no longer the owner, but he left his mark with this fabulous Coupe. The car is a multiple magazine cover car and it has won many awards, but lets start with the engine and something that is not very well known.

The engine that powers this car is the first preproduction GM factory Z06 engine. It was purchased from GM by Hot Rod Magazine for a project car that was never completed. Scoggin-Dickey Performance bought the project car, but Rod was able to purchase the engine to install in this Corvette. This little known fact really adds some GM history to this car.

To get the Kool stance, the stock control arms were removed and replaced with Custom Tubular A-arms, Mustang Spindles with R&P steering...it drives great. In the rear, there is a narrowed 9" which is hung from a custom 2x3 frame. The exhaust are highly polished 2 1/2"  pipes with Flowmaster mufflers designed and built by Rod personally.. To finish off the mechanical package, there is a Richmond 5-speed transmission.

The exterior of the car is finished in beautiful Nassau Blue..a Corvette Color. The interior is White leather..it looks great! The car is air conditioned and even with the horsepower (est. at 700) it gets 20 mpg with the AC running.  Since the photos were taken, the car was purchased by a gentleman in Georgia. He bought the car thru FTR and has made many visual/mechanical improvements to the engine, rear and has highly detailed the undercarriage to like new condition. He will consider trades on a 1966-67 Corvette Coupe 427 that has NCRS and/or Bloomington Gold Awards (in any color but Yellow). So let us know what you may have available.

Those of you who will be looking at this car..know the car..who built it ....and the impact it has had in Pro-Street circles. There are plenty of articles on this very Vette (and Rod's new car) on the internet...Just punch in Rod's name. Although it is not necessarily low priced, it is being offered at a very competitive price for this market..and you have the GM history and Saboury pedigree to go with it. Please ask questions if you have them. Don't miss this opportunity. Thanks for your continued interest in FTR vehicles.
