Magazine Cover Car"
1962 Corvette has an amazing history. Over the years, the evolution
went from a factory original to drag racing winner and eventually to
the latest incarnation that you see here.
In August, 1985 the car was featured
on the cover of Super Stock & Drag Racing Illustrated magazine as
a C/Modified Production car in Gainesville, Florida. With its drag
racing career over the car was restored nearly as you see it here and
was the featured centerfold car in the February, 1992 issue of Hot Rod
Back to the 62 Corvette. All of the original body seams have been
removed. The body is nearly flawless and has been painted in PPG Mint
Green. The color is carried into the interior with the seats finished
in two-tone blue tweed and matching vinyl also seen in the door
panels. Other touches include: Auto Meter gauges, LeCarra steering
wheel. The trunk is also done in matching upholstery with an added
fuel cell. The original chrome on the car is exceptional in every
During the racing years, the car was running 140 mph in 9.42 seconds.
This performance aspect was prominent when the car was restored. A
custom 2x3 frame was built to accommodate ladder bars, a narrowed Dana

was retained with dropped spindles and JFZ disc brakes. The wheels are

the tranmission is a TCI powerglide with a Coan eight-inch torque
converter, Hurst quarter-stick and a B&M coooler. Also, the car
has a new aluminum radiator and water pump. No overheating problems
here. The undercarriage is highly detailed as well.
This corvette is a very well built car and it has been maintained in
excellent condition since the restoration. In fact, it probably would
cost nearly $100,000 to build this car in todays dollars. The reserve
is well below that but is consistant with other cars of this quality.
